Clothes!
Please check the post about Joe’s Clothes – What he Wears! We take all those items either in my humans rucksack or I would be wearing them dependent on conditions.

Sleep kit! – Mattress
To insulate me from the cold ground my human brings a foldable sleep mat for me. He folds it over doubly and this is comfortable and warm. It is called a Foam Folding Trekking Mattress and we bought it from Decathlon. It is lightweight and straps to the outside of his pack. In camp it doubles as an area for standing on while he cleans me down outside of the tent.

Sleep Kit! – Autumn and Spring
Bedding for Joe while we are camping depends on the season or temperature. If it is hot and summer, I wear nothing! Autumn and spring I sleep in a fleece sleeping bag liner. We bought an Adtrek one from Amazon.

Sleep kit! – Winter
In the winter we use a combination of items depending on how low the temperature drops to. I sometimes wear my Equafleece inside the fleece sleeping bag liner. In sub-zero conditions I sleep inside my human’s packable down jacket. He bought this from Trespass as it is lightweight, packs down to the size of his fist and has great thermal properties.

Joe’s food and drink bowl!
We have tried a few types of food and water bowls for backpacking. Plastic, silicone, rigid and collapsible and then we found this folding double flexible one on Ebay. It collapses and clips onto a rucksack. It is big enough for a portion of my daily food which we pack away and carry in the bowl. It was about £5 and we have found it ideal.

GPS Tracker!
Joe wears his Tractive GPS Tracker when we hike or backpack. His recall is good nowadays, he was a nightmare as a pup. He still gets distracted by squirrels and birds so this gives me confidence that I can find him if he ‘does one’. It is USB charged and tracking is enabled from a smartphone. The initial purchase of around £35 has to be subscribed at £55 per year. We are considering a different product but, for now, this enables me to relax

PitPat Fitness Tracker!
This is a new item for Joe. It clips on his collar and via a smartphone it tracks his exercise and rest. We bought it second hand and we are still assessing its value. We will let you know what we think.

Joe’s water bottle!
I carry water for Joe when I know that there are no water sources to drink from. We don’t take chances when we are backpacking so, I filter water for both of us. He prefers muddy puddles to drink from. He is a lost cause! This bottle was only £5 from Pets at Home. It is lightweight, clips on my pack and Joe can drink straight from it.
